A large Dogtooth Calcite specimen from Morocco, covered in an impressive mass of translucent to milky calcite crystals across a natural matrix. The specimen has a wonderfully chaotic, sculptural appearance, with dozens of pointed and angular crystal formations overlapping one another alongside areas of white crystalline matrix. Small patches of blue-green mineral staining can also be seen around parts of the matrix, adding an interesting contrast to the pale calcite.

Moroccan calcite specimens are commonly cleaned after mining using a mild acid solution to remove clay, excess iron oxide staining and remnants of surrounding matrix. This helps reveal the crystal faces and improve their natural clarity and colour, and can leave the calcite with a slightly waxy-feeling surface.

Calcite is traditionally associated with promoting mental clarity and motivation, supporting emotional balance and encouraging positive, uplifting energy.
