Natural Permineralised Fossil Druzy Wood - 1.60KG - Leipzig, Germany

🍃 This is a real piece of fossil wood, naturally permineralised over time, with gorgeous layered grain and bark-like texture running through the piece. The colour is a deep earthy mix of chocolate brown and charcoal tones, and the surface has that weathered, natural look that makes fossil material so striking on display. In some of the natural seams and pockets, you’ll spot subtle druzy sparkle, where tiny crystals have formed and catch the light when you look closely.

This is from Brown Coal Open Pit Zwenkau, Leipzig, Saxony / Germany and 35 million years ago quartz mineralised the wood of dead roots and converted it into petrified wood. In this case, the former annual rings opened and created hollow spaces, which is where the quartz crystals were able to grow. The site has been inaccessible for many years and lies several metres below the groundwater level, which makes pieces like this especially collectable.

It is a brilliant decor piece if you love natural history and earthy interiors, and it looks incredible styled in a shelf setup, on a console table, or as part of a geology or mineral display. You will receive the exact piece pictured, and it includes the stand shown in the photos. 🍃
